President's Page

Dear 2019/2020 PVPGSL Community,

My name is Paul Cyril and it is my honor to assume the role of President of PVPGSL for the 2019/2020 year.  This is my family’s 6th year in the league and my 3rd year on the board.  It has been a great ride and I know that 2019/2020 will be fun as well. 

I first want to thank the outgoing PVPGSL President, Lori Skeldon, and the 2018/2019 board for their service to the league and our community.  The league continued to grow last year and deliver on its commitment to providing an environment where girls can learn, compete and have fun.  The year was highlighted by 3 college softball days, multiple player development clinics, a successful all-star season, and, of course, an amazing 2019 Spring season that saw tons of growth and countless smiles.

The incoming board (listed below) has already been working hard to build upon the success in 2018/2019.  The survey we conducted at the end of last season was informative in helping set the direction for 2019/2020.  The survey indicated that the girls love the fun and the interaction with each other, but they asked for more player development and coaching.  Therefore, the areas of focus for the board this year will be around player development, coach/manager development and increasing the number of participants.  We’ll also continue to do the fun stuff, like college days, opening day, snack shack and closing day!

As this is an all-volunteer league, we not only need an engaged board, but also active parent/family volunteers who can be managers, coaches and fill other critical volunteer roles. Board meetings are held monthly and any parent or volunteer is welcome to join the meeting. 

For those parents interested in learning more about the rules of softball and for manager/coaches looking to get a head start for the season, there will be an umpire training held by the District at the Levy Adult Center in Torrance on December 15th.  Please contact me (PVPGSL.President@gmail.com) if you are interested in attending.  The league will pay the $30 entry cost.

In the meantime, please keep helping us recruit for the spring season and share your ideas on how to make PVPGSL even better.
