Dear 2022/2023 PVPGSL Community,
My name is Andy Tamilin and it is my honor and pleasure to serve as your President for the 2022-2023 season. This is my family’s 9th year in the league, my 6th year on the board and happens to mark our Golden Anniversary and PVPGSL’s 50th year. My daughter Malia started in 6U, progressed through 12U and was a member of the first SoCal State Championship All-Star Team in PVPGSL history last year. My younger daughter Kaia also started in 6U and was a member of the 8U District Championship All- Star Team that finished 13th at the State Tournament, 1 spot shy of reaching nationals. My wife Laura started her softball experience in PVPGSL and continued to play at the high school level. This league has provided some of the most incredible moments that we have experienced as a family, and has taught my girls about hard work, perseverance and teamwork. PVPGSL holds a very special place in my heart and rest assured that we will continue to provide a recreational league that supports your daughter in learning and continuing to play softball.
The incoming board has been working hard to build upon the success in 2021/2022 and we will continue to focus on player development as well as coach/manager development. We have many returning board members, including some that have stayed on even though their daughters have graduated from the league; we are incredibly thankful for all of their contributions and hard work. Additionally, our board is invigorated with new members that have already proven to be remarkable advocates for our girls. Opening Day is sure to be the best in league history and provide a foundation to build upon throughout the season and for seasons to come.
Our successes from our All-Star and Fall Ball programs have led to our biggest spring season enrollment ever and we were able to secure an additional field at Ridgecrest to accommodate extra teams. We have replaced all the pitching lanes and home plate areas at all of our fields and we are ready to play ball!
As this is an all-volunteer league, we not only need an engaged board, but also active parent/family volunteers who can be managers, coaches and fill other critical volunteer roles. Board meetings are held monthly, and any parent or volunteer is welcome to join the meeting. (Feel free to contact me at: president@pvpgsl.org)
In the meantime, thank you for your continued support, and I hope that your girls learn some new skills, gain new friendships and above all else, have fun. We look forward to what is in store this season and I can’t wait to see you all on the field!
