Dear 2020/2021 PVPGSL Community,
My name is Courtney Klink and it is my honor to assume the role of President of PVPGSL for the 2020/2021 season. This is my family’s 7th year in the league and my 6th year on the board. My daughter, Cady, started in 6U and now will be playing her first year of 12U. Fun fact, I even played in the league when I was growing up in elementary and middle school. I know it’s a different world out there these days, but I am excited to lead the league along with our amazing board. I look forward to what is in store this season.
I first want to thank a few people who devoted tirelessly to our league. First, a big thank you to our outgoing PVPGSL President, Paul Cyril. He led the league through a challenging season with positivity and resolve. We are amazingly lucky to have him continue with the board as head of fundraising (he WILL be reaching out to you!). Also, five board members retired this year – Lori Skeldon, Jason Ebbens, Jason Butcher, Craig Handjian, and Anita Lewis. Thank you all so much. Anita has been running the snack shack for the past 7 years, and has shown (along with her husband, Joe) an unprecedented level of passion and volunteerism. We will miss you!
Even though our season was cut short due to the pandemic, our league had tremendous growth and had our highest registration in years! We made several capital improvements (shade pop-ups, improved padded backstops, new snack shack decking and awnings). We also held multiple player development clinics that focused on developing softball skills, learning to pitch and having fun.
The incoming board has already been working hard to build upon the success in 2019/2020. We will continue (as permitted by County and school district regulations) to focus on player development and coach/manager development. We hope to continue to do the fun stuff, like opening day, snack shack and closing day. And if permitted, college and High School days, too!
We know that when we are allowed back on the fields that it will be different this season, but rest assured that all safety precautions will be in place so that our girls can get back on the field safely. We will follow county and school district guidelines accordingly.
As this is an all-volunteer league, we not only need an engaged board, but also active parent/family volunteers who can be managers, coaches and fill other critical volunteer roles. Board meetings are held monthly and any parent or volunteer is welcome to join the meeting. (Feel free to contact me at: president@pvpgsl.org)
In the meantime, please keep helping us recruit for the spring season and share your ideas on how to make PVPGSL even better.
